I was chatting to Nabeel this afternoon and he was telling me about a strategy he uses that helps him to organise himself. I began to think about this and I thought it might be a good idea to share some strategies. Next week I'll be asking you to share "how you organise yourself."

Today we took another look at the idea of GROWTH MINDSET. We did a matching up activity using some of the quotes on the display below.
Next, I asked you to work with your partner to create your own mindset posters. Here are some examples of your work:
Hi Guys, There are 4 pieces of homework this week again. They are due by next Monday:
1. Khan Academy - Now that we have started using Khan Academy you all know what to do. This weeks homework challenge is to earn 5,000 points. 2. One minute presentation - For next weeks OMP you will need to tell us what your key questions are and what you have found out so far in your Genius Hour project. 3. Read for at least 20 minutes every day. 4. 4IM Precept - Precept #2 by Mr Ian Today we looked at the video and discussed what we thought children's rights might be. We then did a chalk talk activity where we looked at some images and responded to questions and comments from our peers You did a fantastic job of sharing your thoughts and ideas. The discussion that followed this activity was really interesting. I was surprised at how much you already know. The last image looks at an image of two people who look like they are making bricks. I mentioned something I had read about bonded labour. Here is some more information.
And at the end of the lesson, Abe told me his mom is a sponsor of two children. The girl's name is Nathaly Alexandra Villalobos who is from Guatemala and the boy is from Tanzania. His name is Joel Ramadhan Manase. Abe's family give money to Compassion and that money goes to them. Also they send mail by envelopes. Thanks for sharing that with us Abe. I wonder what action we will take during this unit? Hi Guys, There are 4 pieces of homework this week. They are due on Monday:
1. Khan Academy - You all have your Khan Academy usernames and passwords (you stuck them into the front of your maths journals on Friday). Your Khan Academy homework is to explore the site and do one or two of the activities. If you are unsure about this we will have a Khan Academy lesson on Wednesday which will give you more information. 2. One minute presentation - For next weeks OMP you will need to talk about why "children's rights" are important. 3. Read for at least 20 minutes every day. 4. 4IM Precept - I'll give you more information on this one, in class. Click on the image above and it will take you to a news article. "To mark 800 years since the Magna Carta was signed, Newsround is looking at what rights children have today." above
I would like you to Think, Puzzle, Explore. What do you think you know about this issue? What questions or puzzles do you have? What would be interesting to learn about? What are you wondering about? What does the article make you want to explore? Where could you get further information? How could you find ways to answer your own puzzles? What can you do:
Welcome back guys. What a great trip! This was definitely one of the best overnight trips I've done. You guys were fantastic - respectful, independent, caring for each other. Just a really cool class to be away with. I'm giving you 2 pieces of Bagamoyo homework that need to be completed by next week. 1. Complete your Bagamoyo Slideshow and share it with your parents 2. Prepare a one minute presentation on the trip. Good luck. |
