I love this precept.
This is Mia's precept that she came up with herself. She said her inspiration comes from August's story in "Wonder"
"What is on your outside can never match what is on your inside." I chose this precept because I think it relates to what we do inside, and outside of school. I like the idea that we are all learners and that learning happens everywhere. I also think that learning isn't something that is done to us. It is something that we have control over. What do you think?
Precepts are rules about really important things. They are a saying, or ground rule that can motivate you. In a nutshell, precepts are words to live by. You can find a precept in a book you’re reading, in a song you’ve heard, or in a fortune cookie. It doesn’t matter where, but if a phrase rings true to you, and it can help guide you in making a decision, then make it your own personal precept.
In our book, "Wonder" Mr Browne tells his class that he’s going to be giving them a precept every month until the end of the year, and every month they’re going to discuss the precept and write an essay about what it means to them. We're going to do something slightly different. Each week someone in class will be responsible for choosing a precept. They will need to say where they found it and why they chose it. The rest of the class will then be responsible for writing a paragraph explaining what it means to them. |
AuthorIn this section of the blog we will look at different precepts. Everyone in the class will get the chance to choose a precept of their own. Archives
