Today is our last chance to work on our Genius Hour projects before the holidays. You have spent a great deal of time working on these projects both inside and outside of school and what I would like you to think about today is the "so what." Why does your project matter? What difference does it make? How will it impact upon the future? What action do you think you could take?
Action from your learning can be as simple as a sharing with someone what you are learning about or even wanting to go online or to the library to continue your learning of a particular topic. Or, it can be an action like creating a poster to educate others, writing to a local organisation, or someone important about an issue that you feel strongly about. Action can also be deciding not to act, for example if during a unit on health you realise that a can of Coke with dinner is not the best choice and water might be a healthier option instead.
This website gives examples of how students have taken action as a result of their learning. You might see Mr Isaac's class on their.
